…Christ is head of the church; and He is the Saviour of the body. (Ephesians 5:23)
And He is the head of the body, the church,…that in all things He may have the preeminence. (Colossians 1:18)
These verses help our church leadership remember that we are not building man's kingdom, but God's kingdom. All that we do at Calvary is under the authority of Christ. We seek His guidance through the Word of God and through prayer.
1 Peter 5:1-4 gives instructions to the leaders in the church that they are to "Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers" until "the Chief Shepherd appears."
Here at Calvary, we have several people in the place of leadership who help shepherd the flock.
Kurt & Lisa Fenton
Following Kurt's seminary training in the States, the Fentons came to New Zealand in 1999 in order to assist the founding pastor of Calvary. Kurt assumed the pastoral responsibilities in 2001. As pastor, Kurt's areas of responsibilities lie in that realm: preaching, teaching, counselling, visiting, administrating, etc. Lisa leads the ladies' ministries and assists with teaching children. Kurt and Lisa have three children ages 14-19.
Kevin & Cheryl Kiel
The Kiels are also New Zealand transplants coming here from South Africa. They have been with CBF since 2003. Kevin is on the administration team, is one of our deacons, and leads our adult and home fellowship ministries. He is also one of the men on the preaching rotation. Cheryl uses her gifts to lead our worship ministry and assist in the ladies' ministries. They have two children ages 18 and 15.

David & Janet Tearle
The Tearles are also charter members of Calvary. David is on the administration team, a deacon, and is usually the first person you meet when you visit on a Sunday morning. His genuine manner in greeting you will assure you that you have found a warm and loving church. David is also the man to see about grounds-keeping since he keeps the church yard looking in top shape on a weekly basis. Janet is one of those behind-the-scenes people who does a great job of making sure the church has the supplies needed to keep the building clean, the tea and coffee flowing, and the Awana clubbers full of lollies. The Tearles have two sons ages 20 and 23.
Kenneth & Maryna Notley
The Notleys are also transplants from South Africa. They have been a part of Calvary since 2007. Kenneth, one of our administration team members and a deacon, is the maintenance guru in our church. If he can't fix it, it's not going to be fixed by anyone! Maryna gently and thoroughly leads our crèche ministry. Babies are tenderly cared for under her guidance. The Notleys also lead The Marriage Workshop, a monthly seminar designed to strengthen marriages. They have two daughters ages 12 and 9.
